Frequently asked questions

Are you looking to answer general questions about Emburse Cards? You've come to the right place. Read through answers to common questions.

Emburse Cards are physical and virtual corporate cards you can issue to control, track, and reconcile business spend. They are integrated into Emburse's expense management solutions.

To use Emburse Cards, you must provide verifiable business and banking information. This information includes a legal business name, business identification number (EIN, UTR, TIN, etc), physical company address, and legal status of incorporation.

Only companies incorporated within the US, UK, or EU may register for an Emburse Cards program. In addition, the primary account owner must be a resident of the same country with a personal identification number (SSN, NIN, ESSN, etc) and a verifiable physical street address (no P.O. Boxes). We do not offer Emburse Cards accounts to residents of Puerto Rico, Guam, the U.S. Virgin Islands, American Samoa, or other U.S. territories.

Once your account is created, Emburse will verify this information. The verification process can take several days to complete.

Federal regulations require Emburse, on behalf of our card processor and bank partner, to collect, verify, and record information about the key person(s) who own or control the legal entity of your business. The disclosure of this information helps FinCEN, a bureau of the United States Department of the Treasury, and law enforcement fight financial crimes.

In order to create cards and fund the account, the identity of one individual with significant managerial control must be verified. Verification is done using name, personal address, personal or business identification number, and date of birth. No correspondence is sent to the individual's personal address; this information is only used to verify the individual's identity.

All that is required for any Emburse cardholder or non-administrator is a name and email. A phone number can also be added to receive instant notifications for receipt capture after a transaction is completed.

Emburse Cards are an add-on to our expense management solutions that your organization can use to create as many virtual and physical cards as you need for an unlimited number of users. Pricing for these solutions can be based on the number of users, the number of total employees at your organization, or the number of expense reports/reimbursements you use on a monthly basis. There are no additional fees for domestic transactions when using Emburse Cards. For information on international transaction fees, please see the Emburse Card Program Agreement.

Emburse Cards can be used anywhere MasterCard is accepted. Banks reserve the right to limit or block the use of the Card in foreign countries due to fraud or security concerns or to comply with applicable law.

Emburse Cards may not be used at ATMs, for cashback transactions, online gambling, and other restricted activities.

By using Emburse, you agree to abide by a set of rules and regulations. Emburse understands that the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of our customers' information is vital. We use a multi-layered approach to protect that key information, constantly monitoring and improving our applications, systems, and processes to meet the growing demands and challenges of the market.
