Hinshaw Case

Hinshaw & Culbertson switched from Concur to Emburse, leveling-up spend optimization

Challenge

Hinshaw & Culbertson managed their spend manually through a paper-based system for years. Looking to gain efficiencies, they implemented Concur for expense automation, but found that the solution was limited in its capabilities and lacked the customization required for a legal environment. Additionally, the firm was still manually managing invoices. With 3,200 invoices per month, this process was burdensome, error-prone and required extensive manual audit.

Emburse Solution

Seeking a solution to centralize both expense and invoice management, Hinshaw & Culbertson switched to Emburse. Unlike Concur, Emburse was highly configurable and able to support the unique rules, integrations, and billing needs of a law firm. “We switched to Emburse because Concur could not provide the flexibility we needed. The fact that Emburse has expertise in the legal industry was a huge bonus,” says Tisha Swihart, the firm’s Director of Accounting.

Emburse enabled Hinshaw & Culbertson to streamline spend management – reducing invoice processing time by 90% and giving AP significant time back for higher-value work. Features such as credit card integrations and electronic invoicing expedited client billing and increased spend visibility. To maximize value with Emburse, the firm is eager to explore additional automations such as B2B vendor payments, as well as leverage data from Emburse Analytics to inform T&E policy and vendor negotiations.

Emburse exceeded our expectations and we are eager to continue to use the new products and features they’re rolling out.”
