Emburse president Nord Samuelson and SVP discuss how sustainability and other issues will impact the future of business travel. Learn more on the latest episode of the Emburse on the Mic podcast.

In a recent recording of Emburse on the mic, we sat down with Nord Samuelson, president at Emburse, and Roadmap co-founder Jeroen van Velzen to hear their thoughts on how the nature of business travel will evolve.

As hybrid work structures continue to reshape organizations, sustainable changes to travel and expense are inevitable. Policies providing a backbone to travel programs will need to adapt. It’s also likely that exciting changes will be seen in how organizations support travel — through the lens of sustainability, and for the individual traveler’s enrichment.

Standards like the duty of care are elevated by reframing it as your privilege to care. After all, every company should support those traveling on behalf of its revenue pursuits. Think of it as less of a duty and more of an honor.

Some believe that the traveler’s experience should match the value they’re creating. Bleisure-centric travel (combining business and leisure excursions) make every trip more enriching. There are more than boardrooms to see in the countries and cities visited by traveling staff. By opening business travel expectations to increase cultural engagement as part of the trip, you expand the potential to form more meaningful human connections.
